PRIDE YOUTH CONTINGENT
Between 1998 and 2001 SOY originated and organized the "Youth Contingent" in the Big Sunday Pride Parade . All interested youth groups joined us to march with one another and highlight queer youth and youth groups in this community. The Sub-Tonic Monks provided SOY with a float presence - drummers, colour, music and style. Banners and balloons from different youth groups garnered much media attention. Beginning in 2002, responsibility for the Pride Parade Youth Contingent was transfered to The Youth Issues Coordinators at Pride Toronto. The Pride Parade Youth Contingent continues to be a wonderful way for young people to meet one another and fully participate in Pride.
