SHIFT: SOY's
photography project, in partnership with Gallery 44
Centre for Contemporary Photography. Facilitated by
Chris Ironside, this is a project for queer and
trans youth, under age 29, who are interested in
learning about photography, camera operation,
darkroom printing, and creative expression.
SOY's SHIFT
program is thrilled to be a partner with Gallery
44's OUTREACH program.
Generously sponsored by Gallery 44 and Toronto Arts
Council.
Facilitator bio:
Chris Ironside was born in London, Ontario where he grew up dreaming
of acting on daytime television, becoming a celebrity and winning an
Emmy. He became an artist instead and moved to Toronto. Working
primarily in photography and drawing he is interested in
representations of masculine ideals and identity through
performance, documentation and the staged image. His latest body of
photographic work, Mr. Long Weekend, was exhibited during CONTACT
2010 while his collaborative work with Suzy Lake, Family Values, was
part of CONTACT’s public installation program What’s The Hype? Chris
is a recipient of an OAAG Award for Education. He currently teaches
photography in the School of Fine Art and Music (SOFAM) at the
University of Guelph.
