The Pride Prom
How to make your own pride prom
'Toronto's Pride Prom will be twelve years old in 2008. Every
year SOY and Triangle Program team up with other groups and GSAs to
make this wonderful event happen. On numerous occasions we have
been asked for advice on how to run a pride prom. We would like to
share this information with anyone and everyone who is interested
with the hopes that the model is useful for creating a queer and
trans accessible prom. All of the descriptions and templates are
examples only, so feel free to adapt and change the model in
whichever ways your own committee sees fit.

The Pride Prom is co-sponsored by The Triangle Program and Supporting
Our Youth.

The Triangle Program:
The Triangle Program is Canada's only classroom for LGBT youth.
The Triangle program works with a very diverse group of disenfranchised
youth who are not able to (currently) work in a mainstream school
setting. Currently in our sixth year of operation, the Triangle
Program allows students to experience academic success and earn
credits toward their high school diploma. More importantly the Triangle
Program allows students to develop the life-skills, confidence,
pride and finesse they need to be successful when they transition
back to their larger lives, be that mainstream schools, other alternative
schools, work and/or post-secondary education.
